to carry out the spirit of the 10th plenary session of the 10th cpc guiyang municipal committee, implement the five-year program for "strengthening guiyang’s position as the provincial capital", and open guiyang wider to the outside world, mr. zhang mingquan, director of guiyang foreign affairs office, accompanied by deputy director li ping and related staff of guiyang people’s association for friendship with foreign countries, led a delegation to foreign consulates general and relevant agencies in southwestern china from march 15 to 19. foreign consuls general and heads of relevant agencies were invited to participate in big data expo and other events to be held in guiyang. also, the two sides exchanged ideas on friendly exchanges and practical cooperation at different levels and in a broad range.

in five days, the guiyang foreign affairs office visited 14 consulates general and relevant agencies, including the consulates general of italy, japan, the philippines and the netherlands in chongqing, the consulates general of israel, south korea, germany, austria and switzerland in chengdu, the offices of the japan external trade organization and state of bavaria – china office（sichuan）, hong kong economic and trade office in chengdu, as well as the consulates general of thailand and cambodia in kunming.
zhang mingquan introduced the economic and social development of guiyang and gui’an. he said, now guiyang is earnestly studying and implementing the spirit of general secretary xi jinping's important speech during his visit to guizhou, vigorously implementing the five-year program for "strengthening guiyang’s position as the provincial capital", grasping the overall situation through high-quality development, accelerating new industrialization, new urbanization, agricultural modernization and tourism industrialization, speeding up efforts to build itself into an important economic growth pole in western china, a new inland highland for the open economy and an eco-civilization demonstration zone, promising broad space for development and huge potential for cooperation. the guiyang foreign affairs office hoped that the foreign consuls general and heads of relevant agencies would continue their attention and support to guiyang's development and take active part in big data expo, eco forum global guiyang, china-asean education cooperation week, asean-china（guiyang）belt and road culture and tourism exchange week and china （guizhou）international alcoholic beverages expo to be held in guiyang. in a targeted manner, the office indicated opportunities of cooperation between guiyang and foreign countries in fields such as industrial manufacturing, medium & high-end consumption, economic and trade investment, rural rejuvenation, eco-civilization, big data, education, culture & tourism and establishment of sister city ties.
the foreign consuls general and heads of relevant agencies congratulated guiyang on its achievements in recent years, promised to continue their attention and support to guiyang and take active part in big data expo and other events, and hoped that the visit would help establish a communication mechanism, deepen exchanges and boost practical cooperation in fields such as trade, technological innovation, agriculture, education, ecology, culture & tourism and establishment of sister city ties.
the visit broadened our channels of international exchanges and deepened our practical cooperation with foreign countries. in the future, the guiyang foreign affairs office will maintain close contacts with the foreign consulates general and relevant agencies, and work with relevant municipal departments to facilitate the implementation of cooperation projects and further contribute to a good start of the five-year program for "strengthening guiyang’s position as the provincial capital".
